Model Overview

The Geely GX3 Pro is a compact A-segment crossover under Geely Auto built exclusively for export markets, serving as a core pillar in Geely’s global expansion strategy. Its donor model in China is the Geely Vision X3 Pro, primarily targeted at emerging markets across Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Latin America, and Africa. Positioned in the entry-level A-segment compact SUV space, the GX3 Pro sits below the Coolray (Binyue / Proton X50) in Geely's international portfolio, making it one of the brand's most accessible SUV offerings globally.
The Philippines was among the earliest export markets to receive the GX3 Pro, where it officially debuted on 8 August 2023 in two variants: the S (5-speed manual) and Comfort (CVT), with launch prices pegged at 778,000 pesos and 878,000 pesos, respectively. The 2026 model year in the Philippines retails between 729,000 and 799,000 pesos. Since then, the GX3 Pro has steadily expanded into dozens of international markets, including Oman (starting from 4,399 Omani Rials), Panama, Mexico, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Kuwait, cementing its role as one of Geely’s primary volume drivers worldwide.
In terms of dimensions, the GX3 Pro measures 4,005 mm in length, 1,760 mm in width, and 1,575 mm in height, riding on a 2,480 mm wheelbase with a ground clearance of 185 mm and a 5-seater layout. Its compact footprint makes it ideally suited for daily urban driving. It comes equipped with a 45-litre fuel tank and a 400-litre boot capacity, which can be expanded further by folding down the rear seats.
Design Language
The GX3 Pro carries Geely’s signature family design cues. The front fascia is headlined by the brand's iconic "Energy Sound Wave" front grille, flanked by sharp LED headlamps and bumper-integrated daytime running lights (DRLs) for a bold, dynamic presence. Along the sides, clean and taut character lines pair with black plastic wheel arch claddings and side skirts for a rugged crossover look, with 16-inch alloy wheels fitted as standard across the range. Around the back, 3D LED tail lamp clusters span across the tailgate with prominent "GEELY" script in the centre, while an integrated third brake light on the rear spoiler and a diffuser-style rear bumper echo the front styling, delivering a youthful, contemporary aesthetic.
Inside, the GX3 Pro adopts a horizontal dashboard layout reminiscent of the Emgrand sedan, creating a clean, well-organised cabin ambience. Ahead of the driver sits a hybrid instrument cluster combining a 3.5-inch multi-info display (MID) with traditional analogue dials. The centre stack is anchored by a floating 8-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, retaining physical push-buttons and rotary climate control dials underneath for effortless operation on the move. The seats are trimmed in PVC leather with contrasting red stitching, lending a decent tactile feel for an entry-level segment contender. With 26 dedicated storage cubbies throughout the cabin, the interior strongly prioritises day-to-day practicality.
Powertrain and Performance
Under the bonnet, the GX3 Pro is powered by a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine equipped with DOHC (Double Overhead Camshaft) and DVVT (Dual Variable Valve Timing) technology. The unit puts out a maximum output of 76 kW (approx. 102–103 PS) and a peak torque of 140–142 Nm, with the torque curve peaking between 4,400 and 4,800 rpm. The engine is transversely mounted and runs on RON 92 petrol or above.
Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission). The CVT variant features an 8-speed virtual stepped ratio function and offers three drive modes: Normal, Eco, and Sport—the latter sharpening throttle response. Drive is sent exclusively to the front wheels (FWD). On the fuel efficiency front, the CVT variant is rated at a combined 6.92 L/100 km on the WLTC cycle, while selected overseas markets cite figures as frugal as 4.65 L/100 km (MIIT cycle). Top speed for the CVT version is rated around 170 km/h. Overall, the powertrain is tuned for smooth, economical daily city driving, with 0–100 km/h acceleration not being a key focus of its positioning.
Chassis and Handling
Under the skin, the GX3 Pro utilizes a conventional setup for this class: front MacPherson struts paired with a rear torsion beam suspension. The front MacPherson setup delivers predictable steering response and bump compliance, while the compact rear torsion beam preserves boot and cabin packaging, with overall damping biased towards comfort. Braking is handled by front ventilated discs and rear solid discs (all-round disc brakes), paired with an electronic parking brake (EPB) or a manual handbrake depending on the variant, offering solid hardware for the segment. Steering is managed by an Electric Power Steering (EPS) system with a light weighting, making low-speed urban parking and lane changes effortless. The generous 185 mm ground clearance easily shrugs off speed humps, potholes, and light unpaved gravel trails. The inclusion of Traction Control (TCS) and Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) aids wet-weather stability, while CVT variants come standard with cruise control operable between 30 km/h and 150 km/h.
Cabin and Features
The GX3 Pro is equipped with a practical, user-friendly infotainment suite. The dashboard houses a floating 8-inch touchscreen infotainment unit supporting CarbitLink smartphone screen mirroring (compatible with iOS and Android devices), Bluetooth telephony and audio streaming, USB connectivity, and AM/FM radio. Higher-spec variants upgrade to a 6-speaker sound system for an enhanced multimedia experience.
In terms of convenience, manual air conditioning is standard across the board, with both the S and Comfort variants receiving 16-inch alloy wheels, four-door power windows, remote keyless entry, central locking, and electrically adjustable wing mirrors. The Comfort variant adds a sunroof, a multi-function leather-wrapped steering wheel, cruise control, and electronic climate control. Storage solutions are plentiful, with the centre armrest console, door pockets, and glovebox providing ample space, while the 60:40 split-folding rear seats expand cargo capacity up to approximately 500 litres. Depending on the market, wireless smartphone charging and keyless entry with push-start button are available as optional extras for added convenience.
Safety and Driver Assistance
On the safety front, the GX3 Pro offers a respectable suite of active and passive safety kit. Passive protection includes standard dual front airbags, with higher-spec grades adding side airbags for a total of 4 airbags. The body shell utilizes a high-strength steel safety cage designed to dissipate crash energy and preserve the passenger cell. ISOFIX child seat anchors and rear child safety door locks are standard across the range.
Active safety features include Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), and Brake Assist (BA) as standard, with the manual S variant also benefiting from Traction Control (TCS) and Electronic Stability Control (ESC). The Comfort CVT variant steps up with Hill Hold Control (HHC), Hill Descent Control (HDC), and cruise control for enhanced driving confidence. A Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), rear parking sensors, and a reverse camera are fitted across all variants, while high-spec models gain a 360-degree surround-view monitor. Selected top-spec variants incorporate Bosch's 9.3 ESP module—integrating ABS, EBD, TCS, and VDC—alongside an electronic limited-slip differential function to improve traction on low-grip surfaces.
It is worth noting that driver assistance systems remain basic: the GX3 Pro omits Level 2 ADAS features such as Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), or Lane Centring Assist (LCA), which aligns squarely with its budget-friendly entry-level price point.
Market Performance and Reception
Since 2023, the Geely GX3 Pro has seen steady overseas deliveries with encouraging sales traction. In May 2024, the GX3 Pro was launched in Mexico as one of Geely's core volume drivers. By November 2025, the GX3 Pro recorded 271 monthly registrations in Panama, placing 4th on the country's overall monthly sales chart and ranking as one of the best-selling Chinese vehicles in the market, driving Geely to a 35% year-on-year growth there. In the Philippines, where it serves as Geely's most affordable crossover, the model was backed from launch by after-sales perks such as a 5-year/150,000 km warranty and 1-year complimentary roadside assistance, helping Geely capture the youthful buyer segment. In the Middle East, the GX3 Pro went on sale in Oman starting from 4,399 Omani Rials (approx. RM87,000), while the 2025 model year in the UAE starts from around 19,000 Dirhams (approx. RM38,000).
From an ownership standpoint, the GX3 Pro has garnered largely positive feedback. On Philippine automotive consumer portal AutoDeal, owners have given the vehicle high overall ratings, commending its accessible pricing, nimble urban proportions, smooth power delivery, and generous standard safety equipment such as four-wheel disc brakes and TPMS. Reviewers and owners also noted that its 400-litre boot space trumps many segment rivals (including the Proton X50’s 330 litres), proving a major selling point for everyday practicality. On the other hand, criticisms primarily centre around its modest engine output, basic infotainment functionality, and elevated engine noise under hard acceleration in the CVT model.
Do note that the GX3 Pro is not sold in mainland China under this nameplate. In international markets, its main rivals include A-segment compact crossovers such as the Toyota Raize, Kia Sonet, MG ZS, and Honda WR-V. Meanwhile, all-electric derivatives (the Maple 30X EV and Geometry EX3 Kungfu Cow) are marketed in China under the Geometry and Maple sub-brands; however, there is currently no official confirmation on whether the petrol GX3 Pro will be developed for right-hand drive (RHD) markets like Malaysia, making a Proton-badged version unlikely for the time being. Overall, serving as Geely's entry-level crossover ace card globally, the Geely GX3 Pro provides strong product footing for Geely to expand across emerging overseas markets through solid value proposition and proven durability.
